Definition
圣火 (shèng huǒ) refers to a 'sacred flame' or 'holy fire'. In modern contexts it almost always means the Olympic flame (奥运圣火) used in the torch relay. Historically it also denotes the oil lamp that burns before a Buddha statue in Buddhist temples. The modern sense is by far the more common usage.
