Definition
土豆 (tǔ dòu) is the common word for 'potato' in most Chinese-speaking regions. In Taiwan, it can also refer to 'peanut', which is usually 花生 (huā shēng) elsewhere. Do not confuse it with 红薯 (hóng shǔ), which is 'sweet potato'.
