Definition
土葬 (tǔ zàng) is the traditional Chinese practice of burying the deceased in the ground, historically the most common form of burial in China. In urban areas, cremation is now mandatory under PRC law, but rural regions still observe 土葬 in some form. The term contrasts with 火葬 (cremation) and 水葬 (water burial).
