Definition
圈养 means to raise livestock (pigs, poultry, cattle) in confined pens or enclosures instead of letting them roam free. It contrasts with 放养 (free-range). You'll see it in agricultural and industrial-farming contexts. The verb itself does not take a direct object like "chickens" — instead you say 圈养猪 or 圈养家禽 with the animal as the object.
