In modern Chinese, 图文 most commonly refers to the combination of pictures and text, as in illustrated articles, advertisements, or web content. It also has a specialized meaning in linguistics for pictographic or logographic writing systems. The phrase 图文并茂 describes content where both text and images are excellent.
