Definition
回乡 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to return to one's hometown (village)'. The verb 回 can be separated from 乡 by a duration or measure word, e.g. 回了一次乡 ('returned to the hometown once'). It is used when the hometown is a rural village (乡), not just any hometown (家乡).
