Definition
嚓嚓 is an onomatopoeia that imitates harsh friction sounds: the screech of car tires, the tearing of fabric or paper, or the scraping of metal against a surface. It is often used with 地 or 的, as in 嚓嚓地响 (makes a screeching sound) or 嚓嚓的一声 (a sharp scraping noise). The word is the reduplicated form of 嚓; in speech it is generally pronounced cā cā.
