Definition
嗅觉 (xiùjué) is the sense of smell, the physical ability to detect scents. Unlike 气味 (qìwèi), which is a specific smell or odor, 嗅觉 is the faculty itself. It forms a set with other sensory nouns like 味觉 (wèijué, sense of taste) and 听觉 (tīngjué, sense of hearing), all ending in 觉.
