Definition
商贾 (shāng gǔ) is a formal, literary term for 'merchant', used mainly in historical or classical contexts. It contrasts with the everyday 商人 (shāng rén 'businessperson') and 商家 (shāng jiā 'business/merchant'), and is more dignified than 商贩 (shāng fàn 'peddler, street vendor').
