Definition
吼 (hǒu) describes a deep, forceful roar — used for animals (tigers, lions) or a person shouting in anger. It is louder and more guttural than 嚷 (rǎng 'yell, make a fuss'), which is noisier but less intense. 呼啸 (hūxiào) is reserved for wind or fast-moving objects, not people or animals.
