后期 (hòu qī) refers to the later stage or period of a process, project, or condition — it is the opposite of 前期 (qián qī, 'early stage'). Unlike 晚期 (wǎn qī), which often implies a terminal or worsening phase (especially for diseases or historical eras), 后期 is neutral. Also distinguish from 晚年 (wǎn nián), which specifically means 'one's later years in life'.
