Definition
合意 is a separable verb-object compound (离合词): you can insert pronouns or modifiers between 合 and 意, like 合我的意 ('suit my taste') or 合他的意. It can also be used as a stative verb (adjective) meaning 'satisfactory, to one's liking' without splitting, as in 很合意. In legal language, 合意 means 'mutual agreement' or 'consensus between parties'. The splitting pattern applies mainly to the personal-taste sense; the legal sense is not usually split.
