Definition
反之 (fǎn zhī) is a formal conjunction meaning 'conversely, on the other hand', used in written or logical contexts to introduce the opposite side of an argument. It is more literary than 相反 (xiāng fǎn), which can also mean 'on the contrary' but is more common in everyday speech and can also be an adjective ('opposite'). 反之 often appears with 则 (e.g., 反之则) to connect contrasting statements.
