Definition
即使 (jí shǐ) means 'even if' and introduces a hypothetical or unlikely situation. It differs from 虽然 (suī rán, 'although'), which introduces a real, factual situation. Colloquially, 哪怕 (nǎ pà) has the same meaning but is more informal.
