Definition
卧床 is a separable verb (离合词) composed of the verb 卧 ('lie down') and the object 床 ('bed'). In practice it's usually used as a fixed whole, rarely split, and frequently appears in collocations like 卧床休息 ('stay in bed to rest') and 卧床不起 ('be bedridden'). If you need to insert a time duration, you can separate them: 卧了三天床 ('lay in bed for three days').
