升值 (shēng zhí) specifically means 'to appreciate in value' and is used almost exclusively for currency, real estate, or financial assets. It contrasts with 上涨 (shàng zhǎng), which is broader and used for prices, levels, or quantities rising; and with 增值 (zēng zhí), which can also mean 'to add value' in a business context.
