勉强 (miǎn qiǎng) describes doing something reluctantly or with difficulty, often because you don't want to or conditions are unfavorable. As an adjective it means 'reluctant, grudging' or 'barely enough'; as a verb it means 'to force someone to do something' or 'to manage to do with difficulty'.
