Definition
勉勉强强 is a reduplicated form of 勉强 (miǎnqiǎng) and functions as an adverb. It describes doing something with reluctance, unwillingness, or just barely meeting a standard. Unlike 勉强 (which can also be a verb meaning 'to force'), 勉勉强强 is only used adverbially to emphasize a half-hearted or barely-sufficient manner. It often appears before a verb, sometimes with 地 (de) as a stylistic option.
