Definition
动身 (dòng shēn) is the everyday, colloquial way to say 'set out on a journey' or 'depart'. It is more common in spoken Chinese than the formal, literary 启程 (qǐ chéng) or 起程 (qǐ chéng), which are used more in writing. Unlike 出行 (chū xíng), which refers to the act of traveling in general, 动身 specifically emphasizes the moment of leaving.
