Definition
加重 (jiā zhòng) means 'to make heavier' literally (add weight) or 'to aggravate' figuratively (worsen an illness, problem, etc.). Its sibling 加剧 (jiā jù) is used only for figurative intensification (e.g., conflict, crisis), not for adding physical weight.
