Definition
加以 (jiā yǐ) is a formal verb used before a disyllabic verb to apply an action to something previously mentioned (e.g., 加以解决). It is more restricted than the simple verb 加 (jiā), which can be used in many contexts. As a conjunction, it means 'moreover; in addition' and is more formal than 而且 (ér qiě) and similar to 加之 (jiā zhī).
