Definition
剂 (jì) is both a classifier for doses of medicine (e.g., 一剂药 'one dose') and a noun meaning 'dosage' or 'pharmaceutical preparation'. Its sibling 剂量 (jì liàng) is only a noun, used specifically for the measured amount or dosage (e.g., 剂量大 'high dose'). Use 剂 when counting doses or referring to a preparation; use 剂量 when discussing the quantity.
