Definition

创立 (chuànglì) means 'to found' something new and significant — an organization, theory, or system — with a sense of innovation and bringing it into existence from scratch. It is more focused on the act of founding than 建立 (jiànlì), which can also mean gradually building up or establishing something less momentous. Unlike 创办 (chuàngbàn), which zeroes in on launching an institution or business, 创立 often carries a pioneering or historic tone.
