Definition
分段 is a separable verb (离合词) made up of 分 'to divide' and 段 'section'. It means to divide something into segments or sections, either literally (documents, roads) or in linguistics (speech/text segmentation). When you specify the number or type of segments, split the two syllables: e.g. 分成了三段 (divided into three sections). The object or measure word goes between 分 and 段.
