Definition
分数 (fēn shù) has two main meanings: (1) a mark or score on an exam or assignment, and (2) a fraction in mathematics. Unlike 成绩 (chéng jì), which refers to overall grades or performance over a period, 分数 is a single numerical score. For game or match scores, use 得分 (dé fēn) or 比分 (bǐ fēn) instead.
