Definition
凝固 (níng gù) means a liquid turning solid, e.g., concrete setting or oil solidifying. Unlike 冻 (dòng) (requires freezing) and 凝结 (níng jié) (gas→liquid), 凝固 is a broader physical change. Figuratively, it describes becoming fixed, like rapt attention; 固化 (gù huà) is more about making habits or ideas permanent.
