Definition
冷 (lěng) is the basic, everyday word for 'cold' — used for weather, objects, and feeling cold. It's neutral in register, unlike 寒冷 (hán lěng, very cold / frigid, more formal). 凉 (liáng) means 'cool', a milder degree; 凉快 (liáng kuai) is specifically pleasantly cool (weather).
