Definition
冰 (bīng) is the noun 'ice' and also a verb meaning 'to chill (a drink/food)' by adding ice or putting it in a fridge. As a verb, it is different from 冻 (dòng) 'to freeze': 冰 cools something without turning it solid, while 冻 means to freeze into ice or for a person/body part to feel painfully cold.
