Definition
写稿 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to write a draft or manuscript', often for a publication. The verb 写 and the object 稿 can be separated by measure words, modifiers, or aspect markers — for example, 写了一篇稿 ('wrote a draft') or 写完了稿 ('finished writing the draft'). You cannot put a direct object after 写稿; instead, use the separated form or a prepositional phrase.
