Definition
公告 (gōnggào) is a formal, official public announcement, often issued by a government, company, or organization. It is more formal than 通知 (tōngzhī 'notice/notify'), which is used for everyday notifications. Unlike 启事 (qǐshì 'written notice/ad'), which is a specific type of notice for things like lost items or job ads, 公告 is broader and more authoritative.
