Definition
催促 (cuī cù) means 'to urge someone to do something, especially to hurry them up'. It is more formal and polite than the single-character 催 (cuī), which can sound blunt or impatient in speech. Unlike 劝 (quàn 'persuade/advise'), 催促 focuses on pressing for faster action, and unlike 怂恿 (sǒng yǒng 'instigate'), it carries no negative connotation.
verb
to urge (someone to do something)
