Definition
停车 (tíng chē) is a separable verb meaning 'to park (a vehicle)' or 'to pull up and stop'. Unlike 停 (tíng), which is a general verb for 'to stop' anything (a car, a clock, a person), 停车 specifically refers to stopping a vehicle and leaving it stationary. It can also mean 'to stall' (of a machine), similar to 熄火 (xī huǒ), but 熄火 is used for engines or flames going out.
