Definition
停刊 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to stop publication' — used when a newspaper, magazine, or journal ceases to be published. The verb 停 and the object 刊 can be separated by aspect markers (了, 过) or measure words (次, 期): 停了刊, 停过一次刊. You cannot place a direct object after 停刊; instead, say the publication name before it or use 把. This word is common in journalism and publishing contexts.
