Definition
借债 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to borrow money' or 'to take on debt'. The verb 借 and the object 债 can be separated by quantifiers or other modifiers — for example, 借了一笔债 ('borrowed a sum of money'). Note that 借 alone can mean either 'borrow' or 'lend', but 借债 always means borrowing (incurring debt), not lending.
