信息 (xìnxī) is the general, neutral word for 'information' — facts, data, or messages in any context (online, business, daily life). 消息 (xiāoxi) is more specific: a piece of news or a personal update. 新闻 (xīnwén) is strictly 'news' in the media sense (TV, newspapers).
