Definition
侠义 (xiá yì) describes the code of honor and righteousness associated with the Chinese knight-errant (侠) tradition, rooted in wuxia fiction and martial arts culture. Unlike Western chivalry, which centers on courtly love and feudal loyalty, 侠义 emphasizes a personal moral duty to help the weak, stand up for justice, and live by one’s own principles — often outside official power structures. You can use it as a stative verb (adjective) to praise someone's character or describe their actions.
