Definition
侍郎 was a high-ranking official position in imperial China, roughly equivalent to a vice minister or assistant head of a government ministry (部). It was one of the senior posts in the Six Ministries system, ranking just below the minister (尚书). The term is now historical and appears mainly in historical texts, dramas, and discussions of pre-modern Chinese bureaucracy.
