Definition
何等 (hé děng) is a literary, formal word for 'how, what a' in exclamations or 'what kind of' in questions. In exclamations, it overlaps with 多么 (duō me), but 何等 is more bookish and used in elevated speech. In questions it is similar to 怎样 (zěn yàng) or 如何 (rú hé) but considerably more formal.
