Definition
住 (zhù) is the most common, everyday word for 'to live, reside, or stay' somewhere. It works for both long-term residence (住在中国) and short stays (住酒店). 居住 (jū zhù, HSK5) is more formal and written; 处 (chǔ, HSK5) is literary. 住 is the only HSK1-level verb for this meaning.
