Definition
传球 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to pass the ball' in team ball sports like basketball, football, or volleyball. The object 球 can be separated from the verb 传 when specifying the number or type of passes: e.g., 传了一个球 ('made one pass'), 传了几个好球 ('made several good passes'). You don't insert the player receiving the ball between 传 and 球 — instead say 把球传给队友 ('pass the ball to a teammate').
