Definition
传教 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to do missionary work' in a religious context. It can also be used formally to mean 'to transmit directives or instructions'. As a verb-object compound, the verb 传 and object 教 can be separated — for example, 传过教 ('have done missionary work') or 传了三年教 ('did missionary work for three years'). The religious sense is by far the most common.
