Definition
会话 is both a noun meaning 'conversation' (especially in language learning contexts) and a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to have a conversation'. As a v.o. structure, you can insert time words or measure words between 会 and 话: 会了一次话 ('had a conversation once'), 会了半个小时的话 ('talked for half an hour'). It's more formal or course-oriented than the everyday word 聊天.
