会师 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to join forces' or 'to rendezvous', originally used for military units meeting up. It can now be used figuratively for any groups coming together for a shared goal. The verb 会 splits from the noun 师 when inserting duration, measure words, or expressions: e.g., 会了一次师 ('met up once').
