从此 (cóng cǐ) is an adverb meaning 'from then on' or 'from now on', used to mark a new situation starting from a specific point in time. Unlike 之后 (zhī hòu), which is a noun meaning 'after' (a time/event), 从此 directly follows the verb and emphasizes a turning point.
