Definition
人行道 (rén xíng dào) is the designated pedestrian walkway, usually raised and separated from the road. Unlike 路边 (lù biān, 'roadside'), which just refers to the edge of the road (not necessarily paved), and 路面 (lù miàn, 'road surface'), which is the driving surface, 人行道 is specifically for walking.
