亲近 (qīn jìn) describes a warm, friendly closeness in relationships or a person's approachable demeanor. It differs from 亲密 (qīn mì), which emphasizes deep emotional intimacy, and from 亲热 (qīn rè), which refers to affectionate behavior. As a verb, 亲近 means to draw near emotionally, unlike 接近 (jiē jìn) which is about physical or abstract approach.
