Definition
亲家 (qìng jia) refers to the parents of your son-in-law or daughter-in-law — that is, the parents of your child's spouse. It is a term for the in-law relationship between the two sets of parents, not for all in-laws (like 岳父 or 婆婆). In conversation, you can refer to the mother as 亲家母 and the father as 亲家公, but 亲家 itself can be used as a polite form of address for either side. The word carries a sense of social connectedness and is often used in wedding contexts or family gatherings.
