亮相 (liàng xiàng) originally means a Peking opera pose, but now figuratively means 'to make a notable public appearance or debut' — it implies a deliberate, often striking entrance. It differs from 登场 (dēng chǎng), which is a neutral 'go on stage/appear on the scene', and 露面 (lòu miàn), which just means 'show one's face'. 亮相 is a separable verb (亮了一次相).
