Definition
于是 (yú shì) means 'thereupon, consequently' and connects a result that follows naturally from the previous event, often in narratives. It is more specific to sequential outcomes than the general 'so' 所以 (suǒ yǐ), and less formal than 因此 (yīn cǐ) or 从而 (cóng ér), which are common in writing.
