Definition
事态 (shìtài) refers to a situation or state of affairs that is evolving, often serious or negative (e.g., a crisis, conflict, or worsening trend). Unlike 情况 (qíngkuàng), which is a neutral, general term for any circumstances, 事态 carries a sense of development and urgency; it is also more concrete than 态势 (tàishì), which focuses on trends or strategic posture.
